Protecting what matters most.
Understanding your options, your warranty and your ongoing protection — everything you need to know before choosing a termite treatment for your home.
Servicing Brisbane & the Gold Coast
Why termite protection matters.
Termites are one of the most common and costly risks facing Queensland homes — and because colonies work silently inside walls, sub-floors and roof voids, damage is often well underway before it's ever seen.
Australia has one of the highest termite risks in the world
1 in 3 Queensland houses will experience termite activity. Because colonies work silently inside walls, sub-floors and roof voids, damage is often well underway before it's ever seen.
Most insurance companies don't cover termite damage
Most home insurance policies exclude termite damage because it's considered preventable through regular inspections and maintenance, rather than a sudden, unforeseen event.
Damage occurs long before it's visible
Termite damage usually begins deep inside timber, walls and sub-floors where it can't be seen. By the time visible signs appear, significant structural damage may already have occurred.
Prevention is dramatically cheaper than repairs
Installing termite protection and scheduling regular inspections costs a fraction of repairing termite damage, which can involve structural timber replacement and extensive remediation.
Protecting your utilities first.
Before any trenching, drilling or chemical injection takes place around your home, we use Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) scanning to map the concrete and soil around your property — carried out through our partner, Provac.
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Scanning
This additional step comes at no extra cost to you. It's completely non-destructive — no cutting, digging or invasive tools — and lets our technicians plan trenching and drilling points to avoid your utilities entirely.

Understanding chemical barriers.
Termites live and travel in the soil around your home. A chemical barrier is applied in the soil between the termites and your home — and because they can't detect it, the effect spreads through the entire colony.
Termites live and travel in the soil surrounding your home, usually undetected.
Our chemical barrier is applied in the soil between the termites and your home.
Termites can't detect the barrier. Contact transfers the active ingredient back to the colony through grooming and feeding.
The barrier stays in place for 8 years, eradicating any colony that comes into contact with it.
Termidor HE vs. Termidor SC
Both products use the same trusted active ingredient (Fipronil) and the same non-repellent technology. The difference is in how the formula is installed and delivered through the soil.
| Termidor SC | Termidor HE | |
|---|---|---|
| Proven BASF technology | ||
| Active ingredient (Fipronil) | Standard suspension concentrate (100g/L) | Advanced "high-efficiency" formulation with Polymer Technology (APT) |
| Impact to soil | Creates a continuous treated zone directly around the structure | APT enhances how the active ingredient transports through soil, spreading it further and more uniformly |
| Traditional installation | ||
| Less drilling required | — | |
| Less trenching required | — | |
| Less disturbance to soil & landscape | — | |
| Faster installation | — |
Although both products contain the same trusted ingredient, Termidor HE's advanced polymer technology allows it to move further through the soil after application — meaning we can often achieve an effective treated zone with significantly less trenching, drilling and impact to your property.
Our installation process.
From your first inspection through to your annual check-in, here's exactly what happens at every stage.
Inspection
We perform a non-invasive inspection of the property and provide an official report. If treatment is needed, the inspection cost is deducted from your treatment quote.
Book your date
Pay your 20% deposit and choose a date with our team.
GPR utility scan
Our partner team Provac will attend your property about 2 hours earlier than us on installation day to scan the property and protect your utilities.
Barrier installation
We attend the property as the GPR scan finishes up, get a handover from the team, and get started installing your barrier.
Certification & warranty information
You'll receive certification of the treatment and areas treated, along with your Termidor warranty, post-treatment.
Annual inspection
An annual inspection ensures your barrier is checked, your home stays covered, and your warranty remains intact.
Ongoing maintenance, if required
Removing cement, planting veggie gardens or changing a pathway may mean we need to return and retreat that area. Just reach out and we'll organise a check-in.
You're protected.
When you choose a Termidor chemical barrier through Pesthouse, you're covered by our own public and liability insurance.
Keeping your warranty valid
Warranty cover depends on annual inspections being kept up to date, and on the barrier not being disturbed by renovations, landscaping or excavation without reapplication. We'll always flag this clearly in your annual report. To keep your warranty active, you're expected to maintain the following:
Termite baiting.
Where a full chemical barrier isn't possible, practical, or simply isn't your preference, termite baiting using the Trelona Termite Bait System (ATBS) is a proven, low-impact alternative or complement to a barrier.
How baiting works
Discreet, low-profile bait stations are installed in the soil around your home roughly 3 metres apart, pre-loaded with a highly palatable bait so protection begins from day one. Foraging termites feed on the bait and carry it back to the colony, working toward colony elimination — just like a chemical barrier. Trelona is compatible with Termidor, so the two systems can be combined where your site calls for it.
- Ongoing monitoring — we return at regular intervals to check the stations
- Annual cartridge replacement
- Moves onto the Pesthouse termite membership
Barrier vs. baiting
Some homes benefit from combining Termidor HE with Trelona ATBS, particularly where construction design, access limitations or site conditions make complete soil treatment difficult.
| Barrier | Baiting |
|---|---|
| Immediate protection to the home | Treats at termite interception from day one |
| Creates a protective zone | Targets the colony |
| Minimal ongoing cost | Ongoing membership & maintenance required |
| Annual termite inspection required | Annual termite inspection required |
| No top-up for 8 years, unless renovations occur | Cartridge replacement required annually |
| Higher upfront investment | Lower upfront investment |
| Excellent for most homes & new builds | Excellent for difficult sites & older homes |
| Highly invasive installation (trenching/drilling) | Less invasive installation |
| Can be a longer installation — up to 8 hours | Generally a quicker installation |
| Soil condition reliant | Effective no matter the soil condition |
A chemical barrier gives you fast, comprehensive protection with minimal ongoing fuss, but requires a more invasive approach and higher upfront cost. Baiting is gentler on your property and your initial budget, but asks for a more consistent long-term commitment to monitoring and cartridge replacements.

Got a question? We've got you.
We use professional GPR scanning before drilling to greatly reduce the risk of impacting underground services. However, when drilling through cement or tiles there's always a small likelihood they may crack. If we see the risk ahead of time, we'll approach you with an alternative treatment plan where possible — this is an unfortunate risk that comes with installing a termite barrier.
The drill holes can be seen, however we use caps to minimise unsightly holes and they're generally not noticeable. If you're concerned, our admin team is happy to send photos of previous installations.
Yes. When installed by licensed professionals in accordance with label directions, Termidor is designed for use around residential properties.
No termite management system can guarantee termites will never attempt to enter the property. The objective is to create a management system that significantly reduces entry and detects issues early, while ensuring treatment to the termite and its colony is efficient.
Once professionally installed, a termite barrier provides protection for up to 8 years.
No, scanning is built into your installation day and will reduce the likelihood of significant delays caused by impacted utilities.
Any digging, trenching or major landscaping can break the continuity of the treated zone. Let us know before any major works so we can advise whether reapplication is needed to keep your warranty valid.
Yes. Many homes use a combination of both systems, and your technician can advise the best approach for your home at any annual inspection.
Yes, most termite activity isn't visible from the surface. Annual inspections are how early signs are caught, conducive conditions created post-installation are identified, and it's required to keep your warranty intact.
Most Australian home insurance policies exclude termite damage.
In both cases the installation takes less than a day. In rare cases it may take up to 2 days, depending on the complexity and size of your property.
We plan to arrive between 9–10am, however our partner team Provac will arrive between 7–7:30am. They have all the information they need, so just leave the gate unlocked and they'll get to it.
While we are required to trench the property, we return the soil and even include grass seed to ensure your yard looks back to normal in no time. With Termidor HE, the amount of treatment required is also significantly reduced compared to traditional treatments, meaning less impact to your garden.
Baiting is effective for most properties. Our technicians can advise based on your report whether it's your best option — just give us a call on 0483 936 370.
We monitor stations regularly as part of your membership to ensure maximum protection. Frequency depends on the risk to your property — it may be bi-annual, quarterly or more. Without a membership, each visit sits at around $275, unless we have a promotion running.
Contact us straight away. There may be a colony nearby, or your home may have "bridging" conditions that need amending urgently.
Let's talk through your options.
