One pest sighting.
One bad review.
That's all it takes.

For food businesses, pest control isn't just maintenance - it's compliance, reputation, and your licence to operate. The risk of getting it wrong is enormous.

📱
One photo can end you
A single social media post showing a cockroach in your kitchen can go viral overnight. Reviews don't disappear. Reputations take years to rebuild - if they rebuild at all.
🏛️
Council can close you on the spot
Environmental health officers can issue immediate prohibition orders if pest activity is found. A forced closure during service - even for one day - can cost thousands in lost revenue and emergency remediation.
⚖️
Fines up to $100,000
Under the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code Standard 3.2.2, failure to prevent and manage pests in your food premises can result in fines of up to $100,000. This is a legally enforceable standard.
Australian Food Safety Standard 3.2.2 - Clause 24
Pest control is a legal requirement for every food business in Australia.
All food businesses - restaurants, cafes, takeaways, catering and food retail - must "take all practicable measures to prevent pests from entering the food premises, and eradicate and prevent the harbourage of pests." Council environmental health officers can inspect at any time. Records of professional pest treatment are your evidence of compliance. Standard 3.2.2A (in effect from December 2023) requires documented substantiation of critical food safety controls - pest management is one of them.

Built for commercial
kitchens.

Every food venue is different. We don't bring a residential approach to a commercial kitchen. Our treatments are built specifically for food businesses - safe, documented and discreet.

01
Food-safe chemicals only
Every product we use is registered and approved for food premises under the APVMA. We only use chemicals that meet HACCP food safety requirements - safe for commercial kitchens, food preparation surfaces and storage areas.
02
Compliance documentation included
After every visit we provide a signed service report with dates, chemicals used (including APVMA registration numbers), areas treated, pest activity recorded and any recommendations. Ready for council and food safety auditors.
03
Scheduled around your service
We treat before opening or after closing - never during service. No disruption to your staff, your customers or your kitchen. We work around your hours, not ours.
04
No-spray zones respected
Open food, food contact surfaces, cooking equipment and electrical areas are always protected. We use targeted baiting and non-spray treatments where required - not a blanket spray and leave.
05
Unlimited callouts between services
If something shows up between scheduled visits, call us. We come back at no extra charge. A commercial kitchen should never have to wait for its next service if there's a problem now.
06
Real people, real accountability
Pest House is owned and run by Gemma and Jared - a Brisbane couple who are personally invested in every job. When you call, you speak to real people. When something's wrong, we fix it.

How often does your
business need treating?

Treatment frequency depends on your venue type, kitchen activity and pest pressure. Here's what the industry and compliance standards recommend.

Business type Recommended frequency Why
Restaurants & cafes Every 3 months High food waste, warm kitchens and daily deliveries create constant pest pressure. Quarterly is the minimum expected by Queensland council.
High-volume kitchens Monthly or 6-weekly Volume of throughput, food waste and delivery frequency significantly increases risk. Monthly treatment is best practice for audits.
Bakeries & patisseries Every 3 months Stored flour, sugar and grains attract stored product pests and rodents. Rodent add-on strongly recommended.
Pubs & clubs Every 3 months Cellars, bar drains and food waste areas require regular monitoring. Rodent management in cellar areas is essential.
Food trucks & markets Every 3-6 months Vehicle and equipment treatment plus storage area. Frequency depends on operating schedule.
Catering businesses Every 3-6 months Commercial kitchen treatment aligned with peak operating periods.
Queensland council tip: Environmental health officers typically expect to see evidence of professional pest treatment at least quarterly for Class 1 and Class 2 food businesses. Monthly treatment is looked upon favourably during food safety audits and may be required for HACCP-certified venues.

Simple subscriptions.

Rodents are the
highest-risk pest for
food businesses.

A single rat or mouse sighting in your venue is a critical compliance failure. Rodents contaminate food, spread disease, chew through wiring and packaging - and the evidence they leave behind (droppings, gnaw marks, grease trails) is treated as a serious finding during a council inspection.

  • Full property inspection - entry points, activity evidence, risk areas
  • Professional tamper-proof lockable bait stations installed
  • Rodents leave your property - not die in walls or roof
  • Stations checked, documented and topped up every visit
  • Activity log maintained for compliance records
  • Return at no charge if activity persists between visits
Why rodents need their own program
Critical
council rating for rodent evidence during inspection
General pest treatment alone is not effective against rodents.
A dedicated rodent management program using professional bait stations is the only approach that satisfies food safety auditors. It's also the only way to ensure rodents leave the property rather than dying within walls or roof voids.
