Canteens and food prep areas carry food safety obligations
If your school or centre has a canteen, tuck shop or prepares food for children, you also carry obligations under Food Safety Standard 3.2.2. Pest management in food areas must be documented and use only food-premises-approved products.

National Quality Framework - Element 3.1.1
Childcare centres are legally assessed on their physical environment - including pest management.
Under the Education and Care Services National Law, approved childcare providers must ensure the environment is "safe, clean and well maintained." ACECQA assessors assess pest management as part of this standard. Documented evidence of regular professional treatment demonstrates active compliance. Schools are also subject to Queensland Department of Education facilities standards requiring regular pest management.
