Cockroaches

American, Australian & general species

How does Pesthouse treat cockroaches?

Pesthouse treats cockroaches with a broad-spectrum residual spray and targeted gel baits that spread through the population, leaving a residual layer that exposes any new arrivals.

Method
Residual spray + gel baits
Recommended
General Pest Spray

How the treatment works

  1. A broad-spectrum residual insecticide is applied to internal and external surfaces, focusing on known harbourage zones, entry points and movement pathways.
  2. Targeted gel baits are placed in strategic locations to draw cockroaches out of concealed harbourage areas.
  3. These baits use a transfer (secondary kill) effect, allowing the active ingredient to be distributed throughout the population, including nymphs and individuals within the nest.
  4. The residual layer remains active, ensuring any new cockroach entering the environment is exposed before establishing.

What treatment do we advise?

Except in the case of extreme infestation, we suggest our General Pest Treatment Targeting Cockroaches at $239 to treat cockroaches, alongside any other standard pests.

German Cockroaches

Blattella germanica

How does Pesthouse treat German cockroaches?

German cockroaches breed quickly, so Pesthouse combines a residual spray with precision gel baiting, and a follow-up treatment at around 6 weeks may be required.

Method
Residual spray + precision gel baiting
Follow-up
Around 6 weeks, if required
Recommended
Premium Pest Spray

How the treatment works

  1. Due to their rapid reproductive cycle, a follow-up treatment at approximately 6 weeks may be required.
  2. Treatment involves a combination of residual insecticide application and precision gel baiting.
  3. Gel baits attract individuals out of harbourage areas, facilitating ingestion and transfer throughout the colony.
  4. The secondary treatment targets newly emerged nymphs that were protected within egg cases (oothecae) at the time of the initial treatment.
  5. The objective is to interrupt the lifecycle before reproductive maturity is reached, preventing re-establishment.
  6. Residual protection remains in place to control any future incursions.

What treatment do we advise?

We suggest our Infestation Pest Treatment at $399 to treat German cockroaches. This way, you get both treatments included!

Web-dwelling Spiders

Redbacks, garden spiders and similar

How does Pesthouse treat web-dwelling spiders like redbacks?

Pesthouse treats active webs directly, then applies a residual insecticide around web attachment points so any new webs expose spiders to the treatment.

Method
Direct web treatment + residual spray
Recommended
General Pest Spray

How the treatment works

  1. Active webs are directly treated, ensuring immediate control of spiders occupying the web.
  2. Surrounding surfaces are treated with a residual insecticide, targeting web attachment points and adjacent harbourage zones.
  3. This creates an environment where subsequent web formation results in exposure to the treatment.
Tip: Retaining webs prior to treatment allows for more effective direct application.

What treatment do we advise?

Except in the case of extreme infestation, we suggest our General Pest Spray at $190 to treat web-dwelling spiders, alongside any other standard pests.

Roaming Spiders

Huntsman and similar species

How does Pesthouse treat huntsman and other roaming spiders?

Pesthouse applies a residual insecticide to likely resting and transit areas. Control of huntsman is progressive rather than immediate, with population reduction generally seen over 8 to 10 weeks.

Method
Residual spray
Results
Progressive, over 8–10 weeks
Recommended
General Pest Spray

How the treatment works

Residual insecticide is applied to internal and external surfaces, including likely resting and transit areas.

Roaming spiders are affected via:

  • Direct contact with treated surfaces
  • Secondary ingestion through preying on treated insects

Due to their physiology and behaviour:

  • Huntsman spiders have limited body contact with treated surfaces, reducing immediate uptake
  • As a result, control is typically progressive rather than immediate
  • Increased visibility may occur as prey availability declines and spiders move in search of alternative food sources
  • Population reduction is generally observed over an 8–10 week period

What treatment do we advise?

Except in the case of extreme infestation, we suggest our General Pest Spray at $190 to treat roaming spiders, alongside any other standard pests.

European Wasps

Vespula germanica

How does Pesthouse treat European wasps?

Pesthouse treats European wasp nests directly at dusk or dawn to eliminate the workers and the queen, and nests can be removed after about 48 hours.

Method
Direct nest treatment at dusk or dawn
Nest removal
After about 48 hours
Recommended
General Pest Spray

How the treatment works

  1. Nests are directly treated using a targeted insecticidal application, designed to eliminate both the worker population and the queen.
  2. Treatments are conducted during low-activity periods (dusk or dawn) to minimise risk and maximise exposure within the nest.
  3. Once the colony is inactive, nests may be safely removed after approximately 48 hours.

What treatment do we advise?

Except in the case of extreme infestation, we suggest our General Pest Spray at $190 targeting wasps specifically to treat European wasps, alongside any other standard pests. Please make sure you let us know about the wasps before the treatment!

Paper Wasps & Similar Species

How does Pesthouse treat paper wasps and similar species?

Pesthouse treats paper wasp nests directly to eliminate active wasps and the queen, and nests can be removed after 48 hours once confirmed inactive.

Method
Direct nest treatment
Nest removal
48 hours, once confirmed inactive
Recommended
General Pest Spray

How the treatment works

  1. Nests are directly treated to eliminate active individuals and the queen.
  2. Residual activity assists in controlling returning individuals.
  3. Nests may be removed after 48 hours once confirmed inactive.

What treatment do we advise?

Except in the case of extreme infestation, we suggest our General Pest Spray at $190 targeting wasps to treat paper wasps, alongside any other standard pests. Please let us know about the wasps before we get there!

Carpet Beetles

Dermestidae

How does Pesthouse treat carpet beetles?

Pesthouse applies a residual insecticide to skirting, carpet edges and harbourage zones. Vacuuming beforehand is recommended, and a follow-up treatment may be required to catch newly hatched larvae.

Method
Residual spray
Follow-up
If required
Recommended
General or Premium Pest Spray

How the treatment works

  1. Residual insecticide is applied to internal areas, targeting skirting, carpet edges and harbourage zones.
  2. Pre-treatment vacuuming is recommended to disturb larvae, remove organic material and improve treatment penetration.
  3. Where infestation is present, a follow-up treatment may be required to target newly hatched larvae and ensure lifecycle disruption.

What treatment do we advise?

If you feel the level of activity is extreme, we suggest our Infestation Pest Treatment at $399. If you’ve just seen a few here and there, you could book the General Pest Spray at $190, which will treat carpet beetles alongside any other standard pests.

Cigarette Beetles

Lasioderma serricorne

How does Pesthouse treat cigarette beetles?

Pesthouse applies an internal residual treatment to affected and surrounding areas, with non-spray options in sensitive zones such as food storage, so the population declines progressively.

Method
Internal residual, non-spray in sensitive zones
Follow-up
If required
Recommended
General or Premium Pest Spray

How the treatment works

  1. Internal residual treatment is applied to affected and surrounding areas.
  2. Non-spray treatments are used in sensitive zones (e.g. food storage areas).
  3. Ongoing exposure to treated surfaces results in progressive population decline.
  4. In established infestations, a secondary treatment may be required to break the lifecycle.

What treatment do we advise?

If you feel the level of activity is extreme, we suggest our Infestation Pest Treatment at $399. If you’ve just seen a few here and there, you could book the General Pest Spray at $190, which will treat cigarette beetles alongside any other standard pests.

Silverfish

How does Pesthouse treat silverfish?

Pesthouse treats silverfish with a comprehensive internal residual treatment using a no-gap approach, with non-spray options in sensitive or restricted areas.

Method
No-gap internal residual treatment
Recommended
General Pest Spray

How the treatment works

  1. A comprehensive internal residual treatment is applied using a no-gap approach to ensure coverage of skirting boards, cracks and harbourage zones.
  2. Non-spray (dust or alternative) treatments are used in sensitive or restricted areas.
  3. Residual activity continues to control silverfish as they move through treated zones.

What treatment do we advise?

Except in the case of extreme infestation, we suggest our General Pest Spray at $190 to treat silverfish, alongside any other standard pests.

Fleas

How does Pesthouse treat fleas?

Pesthouse applies a residual insecticide to internal flooring, carpets and soft furnishing contact zones, and moderate to severe infestations may need up to 3 to 4 applications.

Method
Residual spray
Applications
Up to 3–4 if moderate to severe
Recommended
General Pest Spray

How the treatment works

Residual insecticide is applied to internal flooring, carpets and soft furnishing contact zones.

Vacuum first. Pre-treatment vacuuming is strongly recommended to stimulate flea emergence from pupal stages and improve treatment effectiveness.

Due to the flea lifecycle, multiple treatments (up to 3–4 applications) may be required in moderate to severe infestations. The objective is to target each stage of the lifecycle as it emerges.

What treatment do we advise?

In the case of fleas, we suggest our Infestation Pest Spray at $399 to ensure adequate treatment, this will treat the fleas alongside any other standard pests.

Ants

How does Pesthouse treat ants?

Pesthouse treats ants in stages: targeted baiting that carries the treatment back to the queen and brood, a residual treatment 2 to 3 weeks later, and a granule lawn treatment to reach colonies that are tougher to treat.

Method
Baiting, residual spray + granule lawn treatment
Follow-up
Residual treatment 2–3 weeks later
Recommended
Premium Pest Spray

How the treatment works

  1. Stage 1: Targeted baiting. Baits attract worker ants, which transport the active ingredient back to the colony. This allows the treatment to reach the queen and brood, initiating colony collapse.
  2. Stage 2: Residual treatment (2–3 weeks later). Applied to eliminate remaining activity and provide ongoing surface protection.
  3. Granule lawn treatment. We also apply a granule lawn treatment to get into colonies that may be plaguing the home but are tougher to treat.
High external pressure? Reinvasion from neighbouring properties or surrounding environments is common. In these cases, an ongoing management program is recommended to maintain long-term control.

What treatment do we advise?

To ensure the colony is treated effectively, we suggest our Targeted Two Part Ant Treatment at $308. If you’ve just seen a few here and there, you could book the General Pest Spray, however it is likely you may be advised that you need to upgrade on arrival, as a few workers on the surface, more often than not, means hundreds or thousands hiding away.

Rodents

Rats and mice

How does Pesthouse treat rodents?

Pesthouse rodent treatment starts with a full inspection and uses tamper-proof stations that encourage rodents to leave your property, with a return visit if they haven’t left within 7 to 14 days.

Method
Tamper-proof stations
Return visit
If not vacated within 7–14 days
Recommended
Rodent Treatment

How the treatment works

  1. Full inspection and assessment. We identify entry points, activity areas and risks to prevent future rodent returns.
  2. Tailored treatment plan. Custom strategies using safe, effective rodent control methods.
  3. Advanced baiting. Our tamper-proof, professional-grade stations are strategically placed for maximum effectiveness and minimal disruption.
  4. Home protection. Our treatment method encourages rodents to leave your property before the treatment takes hold. This means you won’t find them in any walls, voids or hard-to-reach places.
  5. Return if needed. Rodents are smart and can often avoid treatment, which is why we trick them into taking it. If your rodent is a smarty-pants and hasn’t vacated within 7–14 days, we return to change the approach. Plus, you can keep the stations and top up throughout the year for just $130, or get $10 top-ups per station with your annual pest control.

What treatment do we advise?

Our Rodent Treatment at $230 is the perfect treatment here. If you also need pest control, you could book our General Pest and Rodent Treatment for $380, which includes the pest treatment and rodent treatment for ultimate protection.
