FAQ’s

I can’t take my pet out of the house with me, what do I do?

No problem, if your cat or dogs are able to go into the yard, we will spray the external first as this dries quicker than inside your home, you can pop your pets outside while the internal dries. Again, we do ask that if possible, you and your pets leave the premises entirely for the 2 hour period.

My cat is an inside cat, and I don’t have a yard...?

If you you have an indoor cat or no external area, we will treat one closed off room first and you can pop your pet in a seperate room to remain in while we move throughout the house, when we get to that final room, you can move your pet into the first treated room while the rest of the home dries. If you can pop your cat into a carrier to avoid them running into treated areas when the door opens, that would be appreciated.

I’m so busy, do I need to clean the home?

No! But if you could pick up any belongings that are on the floor to avoid any accidental damage that would be fantastic. If belongings are not placed away and are accidentally damaged, Pesthouse is not able to be held liable.

Are the the treatments safe?

The chemicals used are not considered harmful, however, they should not be ingested or inhaled. Please ensure you wait until all chemical residue has dried before entering the area or allowing children and pets to walk over or crawl across treated areas. If you are concerned, please feel free to ask us for the safety data sheets for the chemicals.

I have tiny cockroaches living in my electronics, should I be concerned?

Bad news, you may have German Cockroaches! German Cockroaches require more than your standard pest control solution, if you suspect you’ve got a case of the nasties please make sure you let our team know. Visit https://www.pesthouse.com.au/germancockroaches to help identify these cockroaches.

What to expect post treatment.

What if it’s raining?

That is okay! The treatment is set to bond to the environment, and is applied to the external of your house to avoid even heavy rain reaching it while it bonds. If the forecast suggests extreme weather is to follows in the coming 24 hours after your treatment, we will contact you to reschedule, or return to re-apply under your warranty.

I’ve waiting 7 days, can I mop now?

Absolutely, and thank you for waiting! We do suggest that if you can refrain from mopping right to the edge of your wall and skirting boards for 6-8 weeks, you’ll get the best outcome from your treatment as the pesticide has the maximum time to bond to its environment.

So, the pests will be gone tomorrow?

Pest control is not an instant fix, you need to allow time for the pests to come in contact with the treatment and to move on to the pest after-life. What this means is that when we treat your home, we are going to disturb the pests' habitats', meaning, you may see more pests than before, this is a good sign, it means they have been stirred up and will be actively moving over the treatment and eating the baits.

Depending on the severity of your pest problem, you may continue to see pests for up to 6 weeks. Your warranty kicks into effect after the 4 week period.

Why does using a repellent void my warranty?

We use baiting to draw out pests, when a pest comes in contact with the bait, they will return to their habitat. The baits have a transfer effect, meaning that they will spread the treatment among their pest-pals who have not yet come into contact with the treatment. If you use a repellent in your home, the pests are likely to stay in their habitat, the repellent will void the effect of the baits, and pests will not be drawn out. This means they will also avoid contact with the no-spray treatment or the residual spray. It sounds counter-productive, but your repellent may just keep the pests alive inside your walls and drains.

How long does the treatment last?

Pest control is an ongoing management solution, which is why we suggest you repeat your pest control treatments annually. Pests may turn up again, if it is within the 12 month period, they will be ushered on to pest-heaven quickly, if you see an excess of pests, your warranty will cover our return.

Why would pests return within the 12 months?

We do not use a repellent treatment so as to ensure the pests inside your home come out of their habitats and come into contact with the treatment. For this reason, and as a Queensland resident, you may see one or two new pests brave your home over the year, rest assured, they will not be around for long. If you see an excess of pests, please make sure you call our team on 1300 00 44 40.

When you say ‘excess of pests’, how many qualifies as ‘excessive’?

An excess of pests would refer to seeing 3-4 in a few days or a week.

What can I do to ensure I make the most of the treatment?

If you can follow our directions around mopping that is a start. Other than that, keep your home reasonably clean, don’t leave food or drinks open and out to attract pests. If you spot any broken drainage outside your home, get it fixed as soon as possible, especially if it has become damaged after your treatment as this may be an untreated entry point to your home.

I have an infestation, what can I expect?

If you have an infestation, we will have likely advised you to book our premium pest control. The treatment for an infestation is a more targeted approach, the purpose is to break the lifecycle of the havoc-wrecking pest. In some cases, one treatment does the trick, in other cases, you need 2 even 3 treatments. In more severe circumstances it can require fortnightly or monthly treatments and a management plan. Each case is unique, but what you need to know, is that it will take time, but together, we will get it sorted.

Treatment Coverage

It is advised to treat both inside and outside your property for best outcomes

Does your treatment protect me against Termites?

Standard Pest treatments are not an effective solution for termites. If you think you have termites please discuss with our team the appropriate treatment options. Generally we will suggest you start with an inspection, and relevant treatment can be advised from there.

Pest treatments don’t fix everything!

Pest treatments are not an effective solution for pests drawn in by unhygienic living, incorrectly stored rubbish, broken drainage and other pest hotspots. If considerable issues are presented at your home, your warranty will not come into effect as these concerns will continue to attract the pests and though the residual spray will continue to treat newcomers, the baiting and no-spray treatment will not last excessive levels of returning pests.

Fleas, bedbugs & mites.

Fleas, bedbugs, mites and associated eggs are able to be treated via the residual spray. However, we are unable to treat mattresses, bedding, clothing and material items. It is advised to ensure your fabric items are steam treated to ensure the treatment is complete across your home.

Flies & mosquitos.

Due to being flying pests we cannot promise or offer a warranty. Though our spray will treat those that land and any associated eggs, it is common that more may return due to seasons and location.

German Cockroaches.

Generally, cockroaches are not a challenging pest to treat, however, if you’ve got a case of the nasties, also known as German Cockroaches, you’re going to need a focussed treatment.
